Pacífica Salud Now Accepts Tricare and CHAMPVA for U.S. Veterans in Panama
Reside Panama is proud to share some exciting news for the U.S. military veteran community living in or visiting Panama. Pacífica Salud Hospital, a leading private healthcare provider affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine, has officially expanded its insurance partnerships to include Tricare and CHAMPVA, in addition to its current participation in the Foreign Medical Program (FMP). This makes quality U.S.-standard care even more accessible for military families in Panama.
Both Pacífica Salud Punta Pacífica and Costa del Este locations are now accepting these programs, making them two of the most comprehensive destinations for veteran medical care in the country.
Who Qualifies?
Tricare coverage extends to:
-
Active-duty service members
-
Military retirees
-
Registered dependents
-
In some cases, members of the National Guard and Reserve
CHAMPVA coverage applies to:
-
Spouses and dependents of veterans permanently and disabled due to service-connected conditions
-
Surviving spouses and children of veterans who died in the line of duty or from a service-connected disability
What’s Covered?
Tricare covers a wide range of medically necessary services, provided they meet U.S. standards of care. These include:
-
Inpatient hospitalization
-
Outpatient consultations and follow-ups
-
Lab tests and diagnostic imaging (some conditions apply)
-
General consultations with in-house physicians
Note: Prescribed medications are not covered at the Pacífica Salud pharmacy. Additionally, some services (outside of emergencies) must be pre-approved. In certain cases, patients may need to pay out-of-pocket and file for reimbursement.
Why Pre-Registration Matters
Veterans are strongly encouraged to pre-register with their Tricare or CHAMPVA details. This ensures that your coverage is verified in advance, helping you avoid unnecessary delays, especially during emergencies.
